I like to hit F11 in Chrome to go full screen with these albums. Just hit F11 again to get your headings back. You can page thru pictures with the arrow keys on keyboard to avoid the nagging nav menu covering top part of picture.

To get out of an album and back to where you called up Jalbum, look at top of browser and X out the jalbum tab to get back to the calling page. I have set the links to open in a new page which produces a new tab in the browser URL line. Otherwise,the BACK button pages you back through every picture that has been viewed.

I was looking at my Morgan pages last night (24 Mar 14) and read the tribute to first cousin Doyle Morgan I have posted there. Started thinking I might be able to find more details regarding his fatal crash on 1 June 1945 on a surveillance mission over Singapore. I found this link which includes the after action report filed by a crew member of the other plane that was flying with Doyle's. This was really interesting and surprising that the story and pictures were so easily available and I had never known these details. Turns out that June 1945 was a really bad month for losses of American aircraft and crews even though it was so near the Japanese surrender. Some of the damage (especially onboard our warships) was due to the Kamakaze tactics of the Japanese pilots. Some maybe resulted from American risk taking as they sensed the victory nearing. Some island battles (like Iwo Jima and Okinawa) could likely have been bypassed since the atomic bombs were only two months away from ending the war. Not many people knew the facts about the bombs and preparations continued for an invasion of the Japanese mainland which was ultimately not needed.

Below is the link to a post made in October 2013 to a "warbirds" Internet forum. Doyle was a gunner in the PB4Y-2 Privateer flown by Lt. Cmdr. "Pappy" Mears shown flying close formation in the first picture then again in several pictures after the attack, fire, and crash about 20 miles later. I have copied the story from the warbird web site and inserted two of the missing pictures of Doyle's airplane plus one of Doyle with the crew that was lost (not sure of the time of the group photo but likely was the same crew).

He has devoted a lot of time and effort to the goal of recovering possible remains of this crew and bringing them home. His great uncle was the tail gunner on the plane. Another party has colorized the crew photo so I loaded that new picture as well.
